Prehistoric Planet takes us through a smattering of biomes: forests, deserts, oceans, etc. Prehistoric Planet, a new five-episode nature documentary on Apple TV+, does a spectacular job of transporting viewers back to a time when dinosaurs walked the Earth.Īlthough the beautifully rendered dinosaurs are the main attraction, the documentary’s star is most definitely veteran English broadcaster and biologist David Attenborough, whose soothing narration gently brings us into this interesting and vibrant world.

It's glorious and I remain hopeful that Amazon will bring us more.Ī note for fans, Prime Video also has all of the other seasons available to watch along with a documentary on the troupe called The Kids In The Hall: Comedy Punks.Ī Tyrannosaurus rex and its young are shown swimming across the open water in the Apple TV+ mini-documentary series Prehistoric Planet. Perhaps the biggest compliment I can give it is that I now want to go back and watch the original, influential run. It pushes boundaries and is comfortingly nostalgic at the same time. There’s a Shakespearean bust that comes to life and the anatomy of that plays a big factor, a superhero that gets his powers from being drunk has to take on the guy who crushes things with his fingers, and two grown men arguing about who can date an imaginary woman.

Every time he plays the only song he has left, Brand New Key by Melanie, his eyes sink and his soul is visibly crushed. One in particular that sticks out in my mind is Dave Foley playing a desperate morning radio DJ at the end of the world, still going through the motions despite the crushing realization everything is about to end. I realize too, that many of these characters and sketches are likely callbacks to the original run of the series and I’m likely missing that satisfaction, but, even without that experience, I fail to think of a sketch that doesn’t land. And then some scenes that are so profoundly stupid, it makes even the dumbest (compliment) Monty Python sketches feel academic. Not to mention some hilariously grotesque body horror. I was quickly amazed at how hard KITH goes, almost right off the bat there’s full-frontal nudity. The revival has not been renewed for a second season yet. Amazonīringing back the original cast: Dave Foley, Bruce McCulloch, Kevin McDonald, Mark McKinney and Scott Thompson, KITH is broken into a series of sketches over the painfully short eight-episode run.

The cast of The Kids In The Hall returns 27 years later in a new season of the iconic sketch comedy series, now on Prime Video. That caveat out of the way, I can now say to you that I absolutely adored this insane, absurd, proudly stupid resurrection of the Canadian classic, which debuted on Prime Video in May. This is the part where, though seeing multiple clips and segments of episodes over the years, I have to admit I’ve never actually sat down and watched the original run of the series. Canada punches way above its weight in the comedy category, with many pointing to The Kids In The Hall as a prime example of this legacy.
